Wow, this has taken me a long time to post, sorry. So, on Valentine's Day we headed over to Alisyn and Eric's home for an awesome heated competition of Iron Chef.
Order of Events:
1. Competitors arrived
2. We blindly chose the secret ingredient that all contestants would have to use in their dish from a bag; it was honey.
3. We then drew what dish we had to create; we drew a "side dish"
4. We drove to the grocery store and discussed what we would create; we chose to make something we have never made before, but we had at a restraunt it was honey shrimp.
5. We had ten minutes and a limit of $10 to purchase any ingredients that we would need to create our dish (ingredients that weren't supplied as normal staples, we bought shrimp and asparagus)
6. We headed back to Al and Eric's and we had one hour to prepare, cook, and present our dish that we had to create; Alisyn and Eric had to create a dessert, and his sister Natalie's family had to create the main dish.
7. Scott battered and fried the shrimp while I invented and created the sauce and peeled the asparagus so it could be steamed.
8. For presentation of the dish, we placed about 4 pieces of steamed aparagus on a plate with four pieces of fried, glazed honey shrimp on top.
9. Natalie created some delicious chicken spring roll wraps and Alisyn and Eric created an amazing apple turnover with philo dough.
The dinner was definitely a gourmet meal. Everything was so delicious. We all judged each others dishes and shockingly Scott and I won with our shrimp. Sweet!! Surprising, but we decided it was because we bribed Natalie's kids with more shrimp!! They loved it!!
Thanks to Alisyn and Eric for a wickedly enjoyable evening.
